How to Change Your Server Icon

Give your Minecraft server a unique identity with a custom server icon that players can easily recognize.

Adding a custom server icon is simple. You only need to make sure your image follows Minecraft's required format and then upload it to your server files.

Server Icon Requirements

Before uploading your image, make sure it follows these three simple rules.

📐 64 × 64 Pixels The image must be exactly 64×64 pixels.
🏷️ server-icon The file must use the server-icon name.
🖼️ PNG Format The image must be saved as a PNG file.

How to Check the Picture Size

First, check whether your image is already 64×64 pixels.

Check Image Dimensions on Windows

  1. Right-click the image and select Properties.
  2. Select the Details tab at the top.
  3. Look for the image dimensions to check its width and height.

  1. Right-click the image and select Get Info.
  2. Look under the More Info section.
  3. The image dimensions will be displayed there.

How to Resize the Icon

If your image isn't 64×64 pixels, you can resize it before uploading it to your server.

You can use an online image resizing tool to quickly convert your image to the correct dimensions.

Open Image Resizer →
  1. Open the image resizing website.
  2. Click Select Image and choose the icon you want to use.
  3. Select Dimensions instead of Percentage.
  4. Enter 64 for the width and 64 for the height.
  5. Click Resize.
  6. Once the image has been resized, click the download button.
  7. On the new page, right-click the image and select Save Image As.

Rename the File Correctly

After resizing your image, make sure the file follows Minecraft's naming convention.

Correct file name: server-icon.png

If the image isn't already a PNG file, select PNG as the file format when saving it.

The final file should therefore be:

server-icon.png

64 × 64 pixels · PNG format

Upload to Your Server

Once your image is correctly formatted, upload it directly to your Minecraft server files.

Open Your Server Files

Open your Minecraft server management panel and navigate to the server's file manager.

Upload server-icon.png

Upload the file named server-icon.png directly into the main directory of your Minecraft server.

Important: The file must be located in the main server directory alongside files such as server.properties.

🎉 Your Server Icon Is Ready!

Once the image has been uploaded correctly, restart your Minecraft server if necessary. Your custom icon should now appear in the Minecraft server list.
